Holon, 14 September 2020. Mer Group (TLV: MER) a leading solutions provider in the field of communication, security, smart management platforms and cutting edge technical and integrative solutions, announced that its Mexico division won the project of the installation of a Smart management system in León, Mexico’s fifth-largest city with 1.7 million residents.

The project’s expected completion is the end of Q1 2021 and will include MER Mexico linking up municipal cameras and an additional network of non-municipal cameras currently spread throughout the city to the Municipal Command and Control center. MER will also install its in-house developed software for smart urban management, enabling the municipality a more efficient control of vehicular and pedestrian traffic, heightened personal security in the city, and improved smart services geared to citizens’ wellbeing. The system will also allow faster and more precise COVID-19 crisis management.

The scope of Stage 1 is estimated at about 1.5 Milion USD, and covers the Smart-M system, Video Analytics permits, operational courses and professional services for a period of 12 months.

Smart-M integrates IoT sensor outputs and additional data sources to produce smart insights, streaming them in real time to tools that enable making efficient informed decisions.

MER Group’s management platform is already installed in multiple Israeli and worldwide locations including the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and the Ramon International Airport in Eilat. Earlier in 2020 the system was installed in the  Ministry of Defense in a Caribbean Country, and in other installations of national importance in Asia, Israel and Africa.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, MER Group will also provide the León Municipality with the system’s COVID-19 model, which includes a dashboard interface for closely monitoring COVID data, especially important for control and management of red areas. Currently León has 25,000 confirmed cases and 1,250 deaths.

“We feel gratified at being able to support the administrative authorities of León, Mexico, and provide their teams with efficient effective solutions not only for regular urban management but for COVID-19 management through real time precision data,” said Segev Hostik, CEO, MER Group Mexico. “This project follows the general market trend of implementing technologies that simultaneously and quickly address two fronts: crime and violence on one hand, and COVID outbreaks on the other. León, wishing to improve the quality of personal security for its residents, who were hard hit during the COVID-19 crisis, has asked us to get the project up and running as quickly as possible. The urgency means we will begin work this year. This project comes after implementing a similar solution for MOD of a Caribbean Country in Q2 2020. Over the past few weeks, inquiries have come in from additional municipalities and countries. As a result, we estimate that several more projects will commence within the coming months.”
